Playing Catch-Up

There's always that time when you have absolutely nothing going on for a while and then BAM! Craziness for the following weeks! (hence the no posting for almost a month!) So this will be the somewhat shortened version of what we've been doing for the past few weeks.

Chloe's Soccer Tournament

Annie, Jamey and the kids came to stay with us for the last weekend in July so Chole could participate in a weekend soccer tournament. Saturday's games were held at the fields behind Easton, just a few minutes away from our house. It was a rainy morning, but we were able to make the games and watch her team kick butt! If you don't know much about 3x3 play, look it up here: http://www.3v3live.com/ Her team won all of the games Saturday which meant that they got to play in the championship game at the Crew stadium on Sunday!

Saturday, the Columbus Crew had a special night to honor the teams in the 3x3 tournament. We were able to get tickets for the game and went with the rest of the team. It was a great night for the game and a great win for the Crew. Chloe's team was able to walk on the field prior to the start of the game. Elijah enjoyed running back in forth between me, Mike, Annie and Jamey. That kid doesn't sit still unless he's asleep or strapped into his carseat!

Sunday morning we headed over to the Crew stadium once again for the Championship game. After we finally found their field, we grabbed some seats in the bleachers and waited for her game to start.

Her coach was actually the coach of the other team that they were playing, so it looked to be a good matchup.

The match went pretty quickly, with Chloe's team taking the win! All the girls played really well and showed what a great team they are.

And Mike was super excited to get on the field at the end of the games! (he's a big soccer fan, I mean football fan, if you didn't already know!)

New York Vacay

We usually try to go to New York once a year to visit Mike's grandparents and family. Talking to Annie and Jamey, we decided to pick a week and head out! We left on the 31st and came home on the 7th. Elijah did really well in the car both ways. There were only a couple of fits from him wanting to watch Cars. Again. Eventually we were able to talk him into some other movies (with snacks) and all was well again.

After getting in around 4pm on Friday, it ultimately left time to jump in the pool! The water was pretty chilly, but it didn't seem to bother Mike or Eli one bit. I kind of hung out on the steps and watched, waiting for a sunnier day. And that was pretty much how the next few days went. Get up, eat breakfast, get in the pool for the rest of the day. Eli did great the whole time we were there. We are very lucky in that he is able to sleep just about anywhere. His nap schedule stayed on track all week and he was was pretty well behaved, minus a few toddler meltdowns. Here are a few pics from the pool:

After we finally got him in the pool, he loved it! He was getting pretty good at swimming by himself. And as with any kid, had an extreme obsession with the ladder!

Hopefully this works out well. Here is a video that Mike was able to capture on the phone of Eli swimming:

Thursday we headed out to Lake George for the day with Annie, Jamey, Chloe, Noah, Tom, Alicia, Bella, Lucas, Hannah and Alicia's mom. (Quite the crew!!) Alicia's family has a boat and was more than generous in letting us take it out for the day! The weather was perfect for boating and everyone had a great time. It was Eli's first time on a boat and he had a blast. I think he was a little nervous because he was more than content to just sit on my lap and look around.

We took a ride from the launch into the town and met the other half of the group. Eli and I went back out, with Mike this time. He was feeling kind of brave so he decided to change into his trunks and try to water ski:

And, he's up!

He did pretty well for not doing that in years!! He finally dropped himself because his legs were starting to cramp up. Good job honey!

The rest of the afternoon we spent walking around the town. It's a really fun little place to visit. Lots of shops to visit and tons of restaurants. We will definitely want to go there again the next time we're in NY for the summer! Here's another pic of the lake:

All in all it was a very nice trip. Great to hang out with Gram and Gramp and the rest of the family. It was some much needed time away for all of us.

That about sums up what's been going on here the last few weeks. I'll try to update again before a month goes by!
